The events comprising of the Opening Ceremony commence with a Water Ritual by the sea; followed by a Parade through the streets of Speightstown to the Speightstown Playing Field led by the ‘Arrivants’ along with a showcase of music, dance and a colourful spectacle in the form of traditional masquerade costumes.
Participate in the Festival Fair and Fun Zone featuring craft; traditional sweets and food on sale; a children’s zone; tea party; folk heritage activities such as Landship manoeuvres, plaiting of the maypole workshops; a rum shop and MORE! Following, will be the official Blessing of the The Last Canes as well as a presentation to honour this year’s outstanding sugar workers and Stalwarts in the festival.
