The Bridgetown by Night Heritage Walk is an exciting night time guided tour through and around the city of Bridgetown with multiple stops along the way where patrons get to experience history brought to life in riveting theatrical presentations of word, song and dance by some of Barbados’ best performers.

Bridgetown was the original ‘city that never sleeps’; a port city like no other – vital communications hub, powerful trading nexus, unparalleled entertainment centre. But in the early years of the town’s development, many ‘ordinary’ Barbadians were denied the opportunity to exploit the richness of our capital city.

This year we pay tribute to the entrepreneurs of Bridgetown; those brave, risk-taking Barbadian men and women who overcame the despair of slavery, the oppressive poverty of the post-Emancipation period and the vagaries of modern market forces to rise to heights of wealth and success solely by dint of their own creativity and hard working perseverance.

Get up close and personal with London Bourne, who rose out of slavery to own businesses and properties in town, let the Barbados Dance Project offer you a glimpse of the shenanigans at Harry’s Nitery in the late 1940’s, meet Nelson St. entrepreneurs like Gwen Workman, Darnley Greenidge and Nat Maughan, and browse through the living museum of vending on the Wharf Rd.

This is Bridgetown like you have never experienced it before!
