Living the Legacy

“Living the Legacy” that is theme for the 45th Anniversary Gala of the National Independence Festival of Creative Arts (NIFCA) as we acknowledge and celebrate this platform for Barbadian creative aspirations and for the appreciation of excellence in the arts.

In keeping with the general theme for this NIFCA 45 season, the idea behind “Living the Legacy” is a celebration of the role that NIFCA and by extension the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) has played in the lives of the many creatives that have been impacted by this Festival and who owe they careers and livelihoods, locally, regionally and internationally to their journey on the NIFCA stage.

In commemoration of this 45 years of unbroken commitment to the development of the arts, the NCF has invited guest performances from a number of artistes including Adrian Green; Winston Farrell; Jennifer Walker and Yolanda Holder; the 1688 Collective; Ishiaka McNeil; The Pinelands Creative Workshop; a specially commissioned choreography by Tyrone Trotman; along with some of the best acts of 2018.

Some of these names have become synonymous with the pursuit of excellence that lies at the heart of the NIFCA experience, but they are by no means the only ones.  Many have ‘cut their proverbial teeth’ and become masters of words, rhythm, movement, fine arts & photography and of course the culinary arts, right here on these NIFCA stages.

The NIFCA Performing Arts Gala is set to take place on Sunday, November 18 at the Garfield Sobers Gymnasium at 6:00 p.m.
